Our Story

How we got here

We met the way most people meet now — on an app, thumbs doing the work that fate used to handle on its own.

What came next was less modern. The swiping stopped. Not as a decision, not as a conversation, not one of those careful talks where two people agree on terms — it simply stopped, the way you put down the menu once the food arrives.

There was never a “what are we.” There was never a “do we enjoy each other’s company,” because we were already spending all of it.

From the first date there was only ever one word for it. The word was together.

Everything since has been logistics — wonderful, complicated, two-passports-and-a-hacienda logistics. But the important part was settled early and quietly, by two people who had already stopped looking.

And now we would very much like you there.

Friday evening

Rehearsal dinner

An easy night before the big one, for those joining us early. Casual dress — genuinely casual. If you are invited, there is a question about it on the RSVP form.

Guests arrive

Please arrive at least half an hour before the ceremony. Valet parking is available at the entrance.

4:00 pm

Ceremony · Salón Conquistador

One hour, inside the hacienda's colonial hall.

5:00 pm

Welcome cocktail · Plaza del Virrey

Drinks, canapés and lounge seating in the courtyard while we steal away for photographs.

6:30 pm

Dinner · Jardín Huertos

A four-course dinner under the garden's tent and lantern light. Seating is assigned — look for your name at the entrance.

9:00 pm

Dancing

The floor opens and stays open. There will be a late-night snack when you need it.

3:00 am

Carriages

A hard finish, set by the venue. Plan your ride home accordingly — or better still, stay the night.

The Venue

Hacienda de Cortés

A sixteenth-century sugar hacienda founded in 1530, now a hotel and spa set in gardens of stone arches, aqueducts and old trees. Plaza Kennedy 90, Colonia Atlacomulco, Jiutepec, Morelos.

Salón Conquistador

The ceremony. A colonial hall inside the main house, with the original stonework intact.

The welcome cocktail. An arcaded courtyard, lounge seating, an hour of drinks and canapés.

Getting There

Travel

Morelos sits about ninety minutes south of Mexico City. Fly into Mexico City, then continue by road.

Fly to Mexico City (MEX)

Benito Juárez International is the closest major airport, with direct connections from across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Guests from Australia: expect one stop, usually via Los Angeles, Dallas or Houston.

Bus — the easy option

Pullman de Morelos runs direct from both airport terminals to Cuernavaca. Ticket booths are on the ground floor at Terminal 1 near Gate E and Terminal 2 by the Gate 4 exit.

Every 30–60 minutes, 6am–10pm · 1.5–2.5 hours · about $250–350 MXN · then a short taxi to the hacienda

Private transfer — door to door

Worth it if you are arriving with family or a lot of luggage. Book at least a day or two ahead and the driver will meet you with a name sign.

Sedan about $1,800–2,500 MXN · van about $2,500–3,800 MXN · 1.5–2 hours

Driving

Highway 95D, the Autopista del Sol, runs straight down from the city. Around an hour and a quarter in good conditions. There are tolls, so carry pesos.

Avoid leaving Mexico City between 3pm and 8pm on a Friday — the traffic out of town is serious.

You do not need a car

Uber operates throughout Cuernavaca and Jiutepec, and it is the easiest way to move around once you are here — to dinner, into town, back to your hotel. It is reliable, cheap by most visitors' standards, and saves you parking at the hacienda.

Download the app before you travel and add a payment card that works internationally. Coverage from the airport itself is patchy, so use the bus or a booked transfer for that first leg.

Pullman de Morelos sells tickets online, and booking ahead means you walk straight to the platform instead of queueing at the counter after a long flight.

Travelling together

We will happily match you with other guests

A private van from the airport seats eight to ten and costs about the same as four bus tickets. If you tell us your arrival time when you RSVP, we will put you in touch with other guests landing around the same time so you can share a transfer — cheaper than going alone, and a much nicer start to the weekend.

At the hacienda

The hotel has 54 rooms across five categories, from Deluxe up to the Presidential Suite, plus a full spa. Staying on site means no drive home at three in the morning.

Nearby in Cuernavaca

Cuernavaca is ten to fifteen minutes away and has plenty of hotels at every price point, along with restaurants and gardens worth a day of your time.

We will add a short list of recommendations closer to the date.

Good to Know

Questions

What should I wear?

Saturday, the wedding: quasi-formal. Slacks and a sport coat for the men — ties are welcome but genuinely not required. Party dresses for the women.

One firm request: no stilettos. The ceremony is indoors, but the entire reception is outdoors on grass. Thin heels sink, and you will spend the night fighting the lawn instead of dancing on it. Block heels, wedges and flats all work beautifully.

Friday, the rehearsal dinner: casual. Come as you are.

November evenings in Morelos are mild but cool down after midnight, so bring a wrap or a jacket.

Can I bring a guest?

Your invitation lists exactly who is included — when you enter your RSVP code you will see the names we have for you. We are working to a fixed guest count with the venue, so we are not able to add extras.

Are children welcome?

If your invitation includes children, their names will appear when you RSVP. There is a children's menu available.

Do I need to rent a car?

No. Uber works throughout Cuernavaca and Jiutepec and is the simplest way to get around. For the airport leg, take the Pullman de Morelos bus or book a private transfer — and if you would like to share one with other guests, tell us your arrival time and we will connect you.

Is there parking?

Yes — valet parking at the entrance, a small fee per car on arrival. It is complimentary if you are staying at the hotel.

I have a dietary requirement

Tell us in the RSVP form — there is a box for exactly this. Vegetarian is available as a main, and we will pass anything else straight to the kitchen.

Do I need a visa?

Many nationalities, including Australia, the UK, the US, Canada and the EU, do not need a visa for a tourist visit to Mexico. Rules change, so please check the current requirements for your passport well before you book.

Is there a gift registry?

Your being there, having travelled this far, is the gift. If you would like to do something anyway, we will add details here closer to the date.

When do you need my RSVP?

By 13 July 2027, please. That is four months before the wedding, which gives us time to offer any unclaimed places to other people we would love to have there. If you already know you cannot make it, telling us early is genuinely a kindness rather than bad news.

Who do I ask if something else comes up?

Write to us — there is a message box at the bottom of the RSVP form, and it reaches us directly.
